Stay #NFStrong This Summer!

Summer is heating up and our event season is in full swing! We kicked things off with the Ducky Dash in Wheaton, IL to celebrate spring and NF Awareness Month. This time, we added a competitive twist by organizing a timed 5K run inspired by NF2 runner Timothy Gross. Timothy lost his hearing in 2007 due to NF but found solace in running, which not only improved his health but also helped him reconnect with the world. The event also featured a walk and costume competition, with the Menchaca family and Team Firequackers making strong showings. The Menchaca family ultimately claimed victory with their blow-up ducky costumes, making for an unforgettable finish line moment! With 92 participants, great weather, wonderful music, prizes from Nike, treats from Portillos, and an exciting silent auction, our inaugural event was a fantastic time for everyone. A special thanks to Alexion for their sponsorship. We're already planning for May next year and hope to see you there!

The #NFStrong Kansas City, MO Walk was another big success, with 155 participants and 12 fantastic teams, including 7 teams of 10 or more who earned custom team logos. We had a chance to catch up with the dedicated families who attend every year as well as welcome new faces. The day was filled with fun activities, including a coloring station with "My Colorful Life with Neurofibromatosis" books, an amazing silent auction, and a puzzle contest. Thanks to the generous support of NF Central Plains, Alexion Pharmaceuticals US, Springworks, Excel Constructors, Inc., Validity Screening Solutions, and Clean Giving, the event was a huge hit. We've already locked in the date for May 2025, so mark your calendars!
